Dear Black Girls by A’ja Wilson | Moment of Lift Books x Soze Agency
Launching her first book, in partnership with Melinda French Gates’ Moment of Lift Books, WNBA multi-champion A’ja Wilson aimed to inspire girls, women, and others to embrace their authentic story and the people who positively shape it. Working as a content strategist and producer with the Soze agency, I focused on uplifting the emotional pull of the book through digital content to mirror A’ja’s writing approach and relatable storytelling.
Lending my skills in content strategy, I helped lead the direction of digital content, developing concepts for the book’s pre-launch, publication week, and post-launch social media posts. Focusing on a video priority approach informed by initial auditing of A’ja’s channels and digital “trends," I wrote scripts for videos filmed with A’ja, edited several videos into share-worthy content, including the book’s trailer, which combined archival footage of A’ja’s early childhood, collegiate highlights and basketball career with her narration, sharing her story and declaring the audience the book aims to reach.
Highlights:
- New York Times Best-Seller in its first week
- Book trailer (above) reached over 500,000 views on the first day it was released
- Book-related content shared across top-tier relevant pages including the WNBA’s, Klutch Sports Group, Las Vegas Aces, and in celebrity IG stories.
